St. Josephs Catholic College Katherine eNewsletter Term 3 - Week 6
Principal's Message
Dear parents, students, and staff,
We're thrilled to announce the start of our new administration building! This marks a significant milestone for our community, and we want to extend our heartfelt thanks for your patience and cooperation with the updated traffic plan. Your understanding has made this transition smooth and efficient, ensuring the safety and well-being of everyone on campus.
With these changes, we are pleased to see the positive impact on our College routines. Our entrance and exit procedures are running seamlessly, and this has contributed to a calm and focused atmosphere in our classrooms. Students are arriving ready to learn, and the consistency is helping everyone feel settled and prepared for the day ahead.
This week, we also celebrated Book Week in a truly magical way. The entire school was buzzing with excitement as students and staff dressed up as their favourite book characters. It was wonderful to see the creativity and joy on display, reinforcing the importance of reading and the power of imagination. The energy and enthusiasm during the parade were a testament to the vibrant community we are building together.
In addition to these physical developments and celebrations, we are continuing our important work with Dr. Lyn Sharratt, focusing on improving teaching practices and student outcomes. Through her guidance, we are deepening our commitment to data-driven instruction and collaborative learning environments, ensuring that each student reaches their full potential.
As we move forward, we are reminded of our shared mission to cultivate a community of faith, learning, and service. Let us continue to work together, guided by our Catholic values, to build a bright future for all our students.
Peace and Best wishes

Primary News
Transition - STEM
This term in Transition STEM lessons we are learning about designing a playground and how to ensure different requirements and needs for a playground are met. Recently we looked at how to stop sand from blowing away or falling out of the playground area. We either got into small groups or worked individually and designed our own sandpit protectors. Some children had barriers around the outside of the sandpit, some had barriers on top, some had shade sales and we all enjoyed decorating our mini sandpits. Miss Aimee was very proud of her Transition class for the effort they put into their designs and their team work.
The Australian Ballet Visit
Our primary students has a very special visit from the The Australian Ballet. They spent 3 days learning and rehearsing their very own performances, which they them debuted to the other classes. Our students then got the chance to watch the amazing performance of 'From the Gadhu' which represents the cultural symbolism of whale migration, care for Country, intergenerational knowledge sharing, and the delicate balance of ecosystems.
